The networks of women are worse than those of men …

Studies have shown that the establishment and maintenance of professional networks are of great importance for career success because they enable access to mentors and other career advocates with helpful knowledge, strategic advice and emotional support. At the same time, however, research also shows that it is precisely these central professional networks that are often less efficient and effective with women than with men in terms of the career advantages they provide. In addition, there is no pronounced understanding of the presumably different intrinsic motivations for networking between women and men.
